What are ceramides?
Around 30-40% of your skin is made up of a natural group of fats known as ceramides. Ceramides hold skin cells together and therefore keep moisture trapped within the skin. With age these fats reduce in quantity causing moisture to escape. In addition, those with dry skin also have fewer ceramides than those with normal skin. Cerave Daily Moisturizing lotion contains three different ceramides like that found in skin. That’s why it is such an effective moisturizer; it simply replaces the missing ceramides.
What is hyaluronic acid?
This ingredient is another part of human skin. It acts like a natural sponge and keeps water trapped in the deeper layers of skin. In doing so, it keeps the skin plump, soft and hydrated. With age the amount of both hyaluronic acid and collagen decreases and skin loses its ability to hold water. Having said that, it is important to replenish what is lost via your skin care routine. What is MultiVesicular Emulsion Technology (MVE)?
As a general concept in skin care, it doesn’t matter how fancy the actives are: if they don’t penetrate the skin and be where they are supposed to be. Cerave has invented a new technology called MVE, which essentially holds its actives in a tiny sphere, and gradually releases it into the deeper layers of skin. Why? So that the hydration effects continue working throughout the day and are better able to penetrate the deeper layers of skin.
Which Skin Type is the Cerave Daily Moisturizing Lotion for?
Those with mild-moderate skin dryness may use this product. It is a lotion (therefore lighter than a cream). If your skin is very dry then it would be better to use a thicker cream. We suggest Cerave Moisturizing Cream
